June by Sean Rodgers
At the start of June we started our end of year exams. They are exams for nearly every subject we have done all year. I didn’t find them easy even though I had revised hard but I still did ok we had practical exams like ICT and Art and we also had written exams like History and English. Overall I think they were nerve racking but if you put in the effort you could do really well in all of them.

Fun Day in Year 8 was unreal craic and everyone enjoyed it, we played Gaelic and had a tug of war we all got the bus out and we wore our own clothes. We also had sprints and three legged race was epic, 8B won and 8C which is my class just lost to them 3-1.

I got my results back in the middle of June and I actually did alright. There was some subjects I could have done better in like history and some I was surprised I did well in like science, so overall I was happy.

The end of year 8-overall I enjoyed year 8 it was good fun most of the time and when I needed to work I did. I met some good friends and really nice people but I can’t wait for SUMMER HOLIDAYS. J

May by Charlie McBride
We started off May with a mid term break which was nice, you could sit up all night playing games, and sleep in all morning instead of waking up at 7 to get the bus, it was pretty sweet.

Start of revision was nerve racking because you had all the tests in one week and only one month to revise for all tests. The timetable was scheduled for the dates 30May – 7June, revision Science was the hardest because it had the longest.

The 150 years of Edmund Rice Mass was on the 25th May in the sports hall for all the students in Year 8 to Year 11. It was good to take part in.

The start of the exams were held on the 30th May were we had the Maths test first and when you found out how easy it was an found out that it was done it was a good feeling, I hope the results will be good.

April by Mark Corry
In April a massive School Concert was organised to celebrate the 150th anniversary. It was a really fun part of the year because it was filled with lots of good music and it was good craic.

All Year 8’s did a sponsored silence, it was a good event because we had to raise money for Macmillian cancer care and a few days after we weren’t allowed to talk for a whole day, it was tough! Altogether we raised £3200.

Parents evening was nerve racking, it was the night that your parents meet your teachers and tell them all about how you are doing. On the night of the parents evening I had hurling training so I could see all the parents coming out and most of them were happy.

March by Christopher McGettigan and Jude Corry
Christopher: In March there was a 150th celebration evening for all past pupils. I was in the choir singing. My mum and dad came. Mass then ended and there was refreshments afterwards in the assembly hall. There were photos of past pupils on boards around the hall. My mum found a few photos of my uncle.

Jude: I really enjoyed the St. Patrick’s Celebrations because we had fun and got to wear our own clothes. The Irish themed food in the canteen was really good and it reminded me of Ireland. I took part in the Ceili dancing and I did not particularly like it, but it was fun for other people.

I took part in the public speaking competition and I really enjoyed it. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who enjoys speaking in public. John Mc Gurk came 3rd, Charlie Gerroni came 2nd and Faolan Friel came 1st.

I was definitely ready for the St. Patrick’s Day Break and I went to Donegal to a village called Downings and I RELAXED. I did not go to a Parade but I enjoyed the day. To be Honest, I did not miss school!

February by Darragh Owens
February at Omagh CBS was great – we had Mid Term Break. I like the monthly award assemblies because you miss some of your first class! No they’re good because this month Conor from my class won student of the month.

In February there are lots of assessments and homeworks but there not so bad. I really enjoyed the Gaelic that was on in super league. It was fun but we never won a match. We played together in our class against all the other teams, we will be better at soccer.

January by Darren Campbell

Back from the Christmas holidays, I was annoyed!!! Snowball fights to maths how do you think I felt and then the tree planting was cancelled again because their van broke down L

We ended up with plenty of tests when we came back because we were off with the snow we didn’t get much homework.

I got a good Christmas Report 13 A’s and 2 B’s. I was really happy. I also met Miss O’Connor and she said I was doing great, so from sad to happy!!!! J

We had a mass for the 150th anniversary of the CBS and it was good, the school started festivities and I was really looking forward to the events ahead especially tree planting!

On Open Day on 22nd Jan I took part as a guide and it was good because I got to meet new students and show them around our school. Later that day Liverpool were playing and they won 3-0.

December by Eoin Bradley

At this time we got a lot of snow days. At my old school we hardly got any snow days but now the buses didn’t run so the school had no choice. At the time leading up to Christmas we had lots of special lessons about Christmas in Irish and R.E. It was really fun in Irish because we had to make Christmas cards.

At the time leading up to Christmas we had a collection for St Vincent de Paul. We collected food, toys and clothes for the poorest in our area. I brought in some food and it was very rewarding.

Just before the Christmas break our form teacher Mrs Rogan had an idea for our class to participate in a Secret Santa. We had all been looking forward to it and had all of our presents bought when suddenly the school was closed because of the snow. We were all annoyed but at least we got the day off!

The carol service was on the 16th December and was very enjoyable. The whole school was there and at the last song we all roared out the last bit. It was so funny and apparently was a tradition.

On the 17th December the snow really kicked up. We had travelled all the way from Newtownstewart getting stuck on the way and just when got the there the school was closed. It was sickening but as I said before at least we got the days off.
