The Annual Times Spelling Bee competition is now well under way. The standard of spelling was incredibly high: clearly all the competitors had prepared very carefully and all were keen to win. The team will now travel to Belfast’s Waterfront Hall in May to compete in the regional final. Last year’s competitors finished a very commendable third, so the team is obviously hoping to equal or better their success. Mrs Gallagher, quiz master and Mrs Pearson referee, would like to thank all the teachers who very kindly assisted with the supervision of the competition and helped make the event such a success. They would also like to congratulate all the students who took part in the competition on their enthusiasm and expertise.
Pictured here; after the recent heat, is the winner Michael Loughran from 8E, Brian McSorley 8C, who was second and Ben McGinn 8F, who finished third. John Comiskey 8A was fourth in this very hard fought competition.
